POST 5: My favourite expert in science

My favourite expert in science is Marie Curie. She was born in 1867 in Poland and she gratuated in physics. She devoted her life to studying things about chemistry and physics. She worked in a laboratory for many years with the help of her husband. One day she and her husband discovered two chemical elements and radioactivity. She was the first woman and the first person to win a two nobel prizes. After her husband died from radioactivity toxicity, she and her daugther began to help in world war II , thansk to the discovered of x-rays and they were able to save many people who had fractures in their bodies. Finally she died at 66 years of age from radioactivity toxicity as well as her hunsband. I like her very much because when she started to studying she was discriminated for being a woman in science, in spite of that she never gave up. For my she is an example to follow because she fougth for her dreams despite the adversities.

POST 4: MY FAVOURITE FOOD

It´s hard for me to choose just one favorite food, because I really love to eat. The potato is a tuber that grows, in the ground and I think that is one of my favorite foods because it can to used in different preparations like potato cake, golden potatoes, duchess potatoes and french fries. The latter "french fries" are one of my favorite foods.  To prepare them we must first wash the potatoes with water, then peel them and cut them lengtwise. When the potatoes are cut, put some oil in frying pan. We must wait until the oil is hot to add the potatoes. They will be ready when they start to brown. I like so much the french fries because I´am veggie so it is a food that I can buy anywhere, that is, it is easy to find.  I think that everything in excess is bad for our health, including french fries, especially because they are fried.

POST 3 MY FAVOURITE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY

I think it is difficult to choose only one technology because I used many of them, but the techonology that I use every day is the cell phone. I have my life there! On my cellphone I keep pictures of my trips, I have a bank appications, it´s where I do my university works, listen to music and watch series. It is also my means of contact with my friends and my family. I remember that I always had inherited cellphones from my brother or my mom I liked to use them because they had colored ligths, I could listen to music and play games all at the same time HAHA. Now I like for the same reason. Once a log time ago my cell phone was lost and I remember feeling quite disconnected . I couldn´t communicate with my friends, or check the time, or listen to music, so I think my life without my cell phone would be terrible, especially now that I use it to study.

 My favorite celebration is the new year. This celebration is celebrated in all the world. I like the celebrat ion because these is party everywhere, also I always travel out of Santiago with my family and I love to travel with them. Some traditions are eat twelve tablesponn of lentil for prosperity, hide under the table for found one relationship, and fireworks to celebrated.

POST 2 Why did I choose my major?

I remember that when I was child ever played at being a teacher with my sister, I gave her homeworks and tests but I never thougth of becoming a teacher. I can´t remember if I had a dream job as a child, only knew I wanted to study something related to science because I was good at it and I like it.  When I finish the school I wanted to study biotechnology and I was very sure. At the moment of applying I put biotechnology in the first place and then I put the other majors related to science. When the results came out I realized that in second place I had put pedagogy in chemistry and biology, something that I never imagined, so I decided to study and now I thougth that this is my profession.  My experience in the university has been really great, I feel that I have learned too much about science and human relations but  I really want to finish my career for I can start working as a teacher.

who am i?

Hi, I´m Mariel I was born in Frutillar but when I was turned three years old, I went to live in Santiago. Now, I´m 21 years old and I live with my mom, my little sister and my cat. I also have a older brother but he lives with his girlfriend and her son. I´m studying pedagogy in biology and chemistry and I love this because I feel that I can learn a lot and help the students at the same time. At the beginning I had doubts about this carrer but when I started to teaching I thought "this is my thing". Something of my hobbies are dancing and playing shekere, in fact I like to travel around Chile visiting carnivals, I know different places like Valparaiso, Los andes, Algarrobo and many more.
